James E. Johnston

Jim was born October 24, 1928, at Blue Earth, MN the son of James J. and Susie C. (Holcomb) Johnston.He was raised, educated and lived his entire life in the Blue Earth area. He was married to Betty Gerdis on July 21, 1951 in Blue Earth. He farmed all his life, mostly South of Guckeen. He drove a truck for Loveall Construction in the late 1940''s and later for Green Giant as well. Jim was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Blue Earth and was also a member of the Odd Fellows. He enjoyed fishing, raising and canning vegetables and playing cards with his family & friends.He is survived by his wife, Betty Johnston of Blue Earth, daughter, Judy (& husband Virgil) Meyer of Armstrong, Iowa, daughter, Suzanne (& husband Jerry) Schutrop of Sturgeon Lake, son, Craig (& wife Lora) Johnston of Winnebago, daughter, Cindy (& husband Lonny) Schmidtke of Ceylon, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren , brothers, Richard (& wife Helen) Johnston of Blue Earth and Wayne (& wife Sandy) Johnston of Stewartville.Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sisters- Arlene Evans and Opal Hansen.
