July 6, 1911 — October 30, 2003

Geneva Tibodeau-Piper, age 92, of Blue Earth, died Thursday, October 30, 2003, at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2003, at 11:00 AM, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, with Father John Ozbun officiating. Burial will at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation time will be 5-8 PM Monday, November 3, 2003 at the new Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service location at 400 E. 14th St. in Blue Earth, with a prayer service held at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Blue Earth & Elmore is handling the arrangements.She was born July 6, 1911 near Trimont in Martin Co., MN the daughter ofOliver and Mary (Dolen) Tibodeau.Geneva graduated from Big Lake Minnesota Schools in 1928 and then received her Normal training and taught country school in Sherburn and Faribault County. She was married to Claire "Spike" Piper on December 28, 1933. She was a homemaker for many years until 1964 when she resumed teaching at SS Peter & Paul Catholic School for several years. Geneva was a frequent volunteer for numerous community organizations, including St. Lukes, United Hospital, and the VFW & American Legion Auxilliaries. She was also a longtime member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic church where she was active with the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading and often suggesting people take things "one day at a time." Geneva is survived by her Daughter: Patricia Piper of Austin, MN, Son: Paul Piper of Minneapolis, Daughter: Paulette Schwen of Apple Valley, Daughter: Peggy Ann "Sister Tressa" Piper of Bogota, Columbia, Son: Pierre (& wife Julie) Piper of Minneapolis, Son: Preston (& wife Lois) of Minneapolis, Son: Paige (& wife Betsy) Piper/Bach of McLean, Virginia, Grandchildren: Dan & Greg Piper, Peter, Jason, Brian & Steven Schwen, Kelly Skumautz & Mallory Hicks, Marrissa & Morgan Piper, Kristen & Ryan Swiderski, 13 great grandchildren, Sisters-in-law: Margaret Tibodeau of Blue Earth, Anna Marie Tibodeau of Easton, Eva Piper of St. James, Daughter-in-law: Betty Kalal of Savage, Daughter-in-law: Marinez Soares-Piper of Belo Horizonte, Brasil and many niece & nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1982, sons- Phillip & Padric, brothers: George, Oliver & Bernard Tibodeau, sisters- Izetta Holcak, Bernice Tibodeau, Mary Alice Tibodeau, Marjorie Nurre and Frances Slama.All memorial donations can be sent to St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center & SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Genevas memory.
