Babe was born August 5, 1926, at Blue Earth, the daughter of Arthur and Lillian (Rouse) Mittelstadt. She graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1944. Babe attended Minnesota School of Business in the Twin Cities. She enjoyed school by being active in band, choir, plays, Mah-kota Paper and National Honor Society. Babe enjoyed her long-time classmates and being with them. She married Burton John Hamre on September 3, 1946 and they had three daughters.
Babe worked for many years at the Federal Land Bank and then for Frundt, Frundt & Johnson. After working in the secretarial position Babe worked for her daughter and son-in-law. She enjoyed meeting and visiting with the customers. She retired in 1999.
Babe enjoyed and loved life; she was known for putting a smile on many faces.
Her Faith was very important to her. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. She was very active in the church as a Sunday school teacher, leader of Willing Workers, was church secretary and active in TLCW and circle. Her faith and belief in God helped her through her life.
Babe was blessed by meeting Harold Toppin. They were united in marriage on April 4, 1984. She was truly happy as she could finally say "I have three sons: Ron, Bob and Rick Toppin." Harold got Babe interested in fishing and traveling with friends and family- she truly enjoyed spending time with her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Babe is survived by her husband, Harold Toppin of Blue Earth, her daughters, Gloria (Dennis) Weber, and Cheri (Jim) Brooks, step-sons, Ron (Cindy) Toppin, Bob (MaryJo) Toppin, Rick (Katie) Toppin, eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Burt, daughter, Carol Hamre, brother, Stan Mittelstadt and her parents.
